Chicken Biryani

Ingredients to make Chicken Biryani

  • Chicken - 250 gms
  • Jeera samba rice - 1 cup
  • Chopped onion - 1 (big)
  • Chopped tomato - 1
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Chopped green chili - 1
  • Mint leaves - 10-15
  • Coriander leaves - 10-15
  • Fennel seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Cloves - 1-2
  • Small piece of cinnamon
  • Cardamom (crushed) - 1
  • Aniseed - 1
  • Biryani masala (optional) - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
  • Garam masala - 1 tsp
  • Chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

How to make Chicken Biryani

  1. Add 2 tbsp of oil, fennel seeds and other dry spices in a pressure cooker.
  2. Add in onion, ginger-garlic paste and sauté till onion turns translucent.
  3. Add chicken and salt to it and sauté them well.
  4. Blend mint leaves, coriander leaves, chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, biriyani masala and tomato in a blender.
  5. Add the mixture and sauté for 5 minutes.
  6. Then add rice.
  7. Add 2 and 1/2 cup of water.
  8. Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.
  9. Add a spoon of ghee at last.
  10. Serve hot with onion and cucumber raita.

My Tip:

Add jeera samba for the extra special aroma and flavor. We can even grind all the dry spices together.
