ABOUT Raw Banana & Carrot Avial RECIPE

A very tasty side dish from Kerala. Usually made with a mix of many vegetables. Here I made the same preparation with raw plantain & carrots only :blush:

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw Plaintain - 1 & half
  2. Carrots - 2
  3. Fresh Grated Coconut - 1 cup
  4. Curd - Half cup
  5. Jeera - 1 tspn
  6. Green chilly - 2 (adjust to taste )
  7. Curry leaves - few
  8. Baby onions - 3
  9. Turmeric pwdr - half tspn
  10. Salt to taste
  11. water for cooking
  12. Coconut oil - 1 tbspn

Instructions

  1. Wash the plantain & then cut into half & then cut again into thin one inch pieces
  2. Peel the carrots and cut similarly as raw banana.
  3. Then take a kadhai & put them in it
  4. Pour little water enough for cooking the vegetables.
  5. Add salt & turmeric powder mix well
  6. Let it cook on low flame for a few minutes.
  7. In the meantime grind the coconut, jeera, curd, baby onions and green chilly to a smooth paste
  8. Once the vegetables are cooked pour this ground paste to it. Mix well.
  9. Add water if required check salt. Bring to boil. Turn off the gas.
  10. Pour coconut oil and put curry leaves
  11. Serve hot with rice or chapati :blush:
