Rice & Daal Khichdi

Ingredients to make Rice & Daal Khichdi

  • rice- 1/4 cup
  • moong dal- 1/4 cup
  • Toor dal- 2 tbsp
  • tomato- 1 small
  • carrot- 1 small
  • Beet root- 1 small
  • garlic- 1 clove
  • coriander leaves- few
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  • mustard seeds
  • cumin seeds
  • asafoetida
  • curry leaves
  • oil

How to make Rice & Daal Khichdi

  1. Wash rice & dals together soak in water for 5 to 10 min or till you cut the other ingredients.
  2. Peel carrot & beetroot and cut into round shape, roughly chop the tomato.
  3. Take a pressure cooker, put all ingredients- rice, dals, carrot, beetroot, tomato, salt, turmeric powder adjust extra water & let cook for 7 to 8 whistles.
  4. After cooking give tadka- heat oil add curry leaves, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and the asafoetida. Pour on khichdi and serve hot.
