Ingredients to make Yellow dal with barishta

  • Dhuli moong dal 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • 1 Green chilli slitted
  • For barishta:
  • 1 onion sliced thinly
  • For temporing:
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 4 pods garlic sliced
  • 1/2 inch ginger sliced
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • Jeera 1 tablespoon
  • Garam Masala
  • Ghee 2 tablespoons
  • For Garnishing:
  • Coriander leaves

How to make Yellow dal with barishta

  1. Put the dal after washing into pressure cooker add 2 cup of water. Add salt, turmeric powder, green chilli and 1/2 teaspoon of ghee.
  2. Cook it till one whistle or till it is done.
  3. For Barista add ghee into a pan and add sliced onion,. Fry these till golden brown. After this remove it from ghee and put it on a kitchen towel.
  4. Now in this pan add jeera, and after this garlic, when it turns golden add onion and ginger. When tadka becomes golden add chopped tomato. When masala leaves the ghee. Add the boiled dal.
  5. Add garam masala and garnish with coriander.
  6. Now transfer this to serving dish and put the Barista over the dal.
  7. Server this with chapati or rice or prawn pilaf.

My Tip:

Serve this with jeera rice. Its Yummy and light complete meal.
