Spicy Red Chilli Chutney / Pickle

Ingredients to make Spicy Red Chilli Chutney / Pickle

  • 250 gms - fresh spicy red chillies
  • 1 whole bulb of garlic finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp - methi dana
  • 2 tbsp - jaggery
  • 2 tbsp - tamarind pulp
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - oil

How to make Spicy Red Chilli Chutney / Pickle

  1. Fry the Methi seeds in oil.
  2. When they start to crackle, add the garlic and fry till it is transparent.
  3. Add the onions and fry till golden.
  4. In a mixie, blitz the chillies (if you want less heat remove the seeds).
  5. Add in the garlic onion mix to the chillies and blitz some more.
  6. Put back in the kadhai, add the jaggery and salt and cook until the water evaporates.
  7. Add the tamarind and cook for a couple of minutes more.
  8. Let it cool completely and then store.
My Tip: Depending on your taste for spice - leave the seeds or remove as many as you want. Again depending on your taste for spicy, add the jaggery.
