Ingredients to make Bread dahi bhalla

  • 10 - white bread slices
  • 300 gms - curd (dahi)
  • 2 tbsp - oil
  • 3 tbsp - coconut powder
  • salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons - chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup - tamarind chutney
  • 1/4 cup - green chutney
  • 1/2 teaspoon - salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon - red chili powder for serving
  • 2 teaspoons - chopped kaju/cashews
  • 2 tbs - Raisin/kishmish
  • Fine sev for garnishing

How to make Bread dahi bhalla

  1. In a bowl, put coconut powder, chopped almonds, kishmish, chopped kaju and salt. Set aside.
  2. Cut bread slices into circles.
  3. Lightly wet one side of the bread and put 2 teaspoons of the filling in the center of the bread and fold the bread in half, forming a semi-circle.
  4. Press the edges together with your fingers. Make sure the edges are sealed.
  5. Make the rest of the bhallas in the same manner.
  6. Brush the bhallas both side lightly with oil and toast them in a toaster oven just enough so that the bread becomes light golden brown.
  7. Whip the yogurt until smooth and fluffy.
  8. Add salt according to taste.
  9. When ready to serve, soak them (bhallas) in water for one minute and then squeeze the bhalla lightly between your both palms.
  10. Dip them (bhallas) in yogurt one at a time and arrange them on a serving plate.
  11. Sprinkle the red chili powder as per your taste, it is optional as mostly kids do not like red chili.
  12. Drizzle the tamarind chutney, green chutney and sev.
