CASHEW MODAK | KAJU MODAK

Ingredients to make CASHEW MODAK | KAJU MODAK

  • 280 gms – cashew powder at room temperature
  • ½ cup – sugar
  • 50 ml – water
  • A pinch – saffron
  • 50 ml – milk
  • A pinch – cardamom powder

How to make CASHEW MODAK | KAJU MODAK

  1. Heat the milk and soak the saffron in it. Keep aside.
  2. In a pan, add sugar and water. Bring it to boil and keep stirring till the sugar is fully dissolved. Add cardamom and the saffron milk mixture.
  3. Boil until the syrup reaches almost one string consistency.
  4. Add the cashew powder and mix well.
  5. Cook the mixture till it comes together and forms a lump, for around 5 minutes.
  6. Let it cool. Now grease your hands and knead to form a dough.
  7. ASSEMBLING AND SHAPING MODAK – Grease the modak mould. Add a gooseberry sized ball and press it forming a nice shape.
  8. Bring the modak out of the mould.
  9. Your lovely modak offerings are ready.
My Tip: • If you do not have cashew powder, then use the whole cashews. Just blend it into a fine powder. • Increase the amount of sugar according to your preference. • If you do not have modak moulds, shape them as you like.
