Instant suji oats dhokla

Ingredients to make Instant suji oats dhokla

  • 1 cup - Rava/suji/semolina
  • Curd - 3/4 cup
  • Whole red chili - 1 to 2
  • Quick rolled oats (Quaker) - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Eno or cooking soda - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin or jeera powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Rai or mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar - 1/4 tsp
  • Sesame or white til - 1/4 tsp
  • Jeera/Cumin Seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves (optional)
  • Asafoetida or hing - a pinch
  • Oil for tempering
  • Water as required
  • Fresh coriander chopped
  • Salt to taste

How to make Instant suji oats dhokla

  1. Add suji, oats, salt, sugar in a bowl, mix well. Now add the curd and water and make a thick but slightly flowing batter. Add the eno or cooking soda and mix well.
  2. Take a steamer like the one you use for idli, grease a idli or dhokla plate and put in the batter.
  3. Now fill the idli steamer with enough water and let the dhokla steam for 15 mins.
  4. Once done, remove it from the steamer and sprinkle the cumin powder and red chili throughout the top of the dhokla.
  5. Take a tadka spoon, take 1 tbsp oil and once heated well, add the jeera, mustard seeds, hing, whole red chili and let it splutter, add curry leaves if you wish.
  6. Now temper the dhokla with this and garnish with chopped coriander.
  7. Cut square pieces and serve with mint coriander chutney or ketchup.
