Moru curry is one of the simplest and easiest curry that you can think of. You need just a handful of ingredients and you have a delicious and soothing curry for your everyday meal. This is how moru curry is prepared at my home. Check whether you follow the same ingredients and steps.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Curd 3/4 cup
  2. Grated coconut 3/4 cup
  3. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  4. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  5. Garlic 1 pod
  6. Coconut oil 2 tbsp
  7. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  8. Curry leaves 2 sprigs
  9. Red chilli whole 2
  10. Shallots (finely sliced) 2
  11. Green chili (finely chopped) 1-2
  12. Water 1 and 1/2 cups
  13. Salt as required

Instructions

  1. Grind together curd and coconut with turmeric powder to form a smooth paste.
  2. Next add in cumin seeds and garlic and grind well. Keep this mixture aside.
  3. Heat coconut oil in (preferably) a clay pot and splutter mustard seeds.
  4. Next add the shallots, curry leaves and green chili. Saute for a minute.
  5. Add the whole red chili too.
  6. Next add the coconut curd mixture that was already prepared.
  7. Add water and salt, as required and mix.
  8. Do not boil, once it warms up, switch the flame off.
  9. Serve hot with rice.
