Ingredients to make Gravy Wale Methi Aloo

  • Finely chopped methi leaves 125 gms
  • Aloo 3-4 chopped into big pieces
  • Tamatar 3-4
  • Green chilli 2
  • Lehsun 10-12 flakes
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Haldi pinch off
  • Dhaniya powder 1 tsp
  • Sugar 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Oil 1 tblspn

How to make Gravy Wale Methi Aloo

  1. First wash and chop the method leaves. Boil 3-4 cups water in a pan. Add method leaves, boil for 2-3 mins. Let it cool.
  2. In a mixer jar add boiled method , green chilly and lehsun. Grind into a smooth paste. Take out the in a bowl.
  3. In the same jar add tomatoes and puree it.
  4. In a cook heat oil. Add methi paste and cook it for 3-4 mins. Add tomato paste and all dry spices. Cook till oil separates.
  5. Add sugar and chopped aloo. Mix well and cook for 2 mins.
  6. Add 2 cups water and cover the lid.
  7. Cook on high flame till one whistle, cook for 3-4 mins on low flame.
  8. Switch off the flame serve hot with roti or rice.

My Tip:

Sugar maintain the green colour and cut the bitterness of methi. You can add more water as per thickness of gravy.
