Chicken biryani

Ingredients to make Chicken biryani

  • Half kg chicken
  • 1 cup basmati Rice
  • Oil
  • Salt as needed
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 1 cup Yogurt
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • Red chilli powder
  • Coriander leaves
  • Biryani masala
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 4 cloves
  • Small Cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 tsp jeera
  • Water as required
  • Saffron soaked in milk
  • Lemon juice as per the taste
  • Green chillies few as per the taste

How to make Chicken biryani

  1. Soak rice for at least 20 minutes .Boil the rice at par.
  2. Marinate chicken with curd, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, salt, chili powder. And set aside for 1 hour.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add all the whole spice into the pan. And stir till fragrant. Now add sliced onion and fry till brown then add ginger garlic paste and stir it.
  4. Add tomatoes and stir till it become soft. Then add all the dry spices, slit chillies, biryani masala and marinated chicken.
  5. Simmer the chicken mix for 15 minutes till the chicken gets tender and soft .
  6. Then add par boiled rice on the chicken. Do not mix the rice with chicken. Sprinkle the kesar which is soaked in milk.
  7. Cover the lid and put some heavy weight on the lid so that the steam cannot come out for 10 minutes on a low flame.
  8. Switch off the gas. Give 5 minute rest to the biryani.
  9. Garnish the biryani with coriander leaves. And serve with curd or raita.
