Spicy Curd Chicken

Ingredients to make Spicy Curd Chicken

  • Chicken - 400 grams
  • Fresh Ginger Garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • Onion - 2 medium finely chopped
  • Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Tomato - 1 finely chopped
  • Curd - ½ cup
  • Green chilli - 2 chopped
  • Coriander leaves few chopped
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • For roasting and grinding:
  • Dry Red Chilli - 5
  • Peppercorns - 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tsp

How to make Spicy Curd Chicken

  1. Heat a few drops of oil in a pan. Add the ingredients mentioned in the roasting and grinding list and roast them till the raw smell goes off. Take off the flame, let it cool down and grind them to a fine powder..
  2. Heat the remaining oil in a pan. Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a min.
  3. Add the onion, curry leaves and saute till onion is translucent.
  4. Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder and mix well and saute for a min.
  5. Add the tomotoes and fry till it is mushy.
  6. Add the chicken, salt to taste and mix well until the masala coat nicely with the chicken.
  7. Add curd, mix well, cover the pan and continue to cook in low flame for about 10 mins stirring it occasionally.
  8. Add the grounded masalas and cook for another 5-10 mins. Adjust the gravy consistency by adding water as required.
  9. Just before taking off the flame add the chopped coriander leaves, give a quick stir, add the chopped green chilies and take off the flame.
