Ingredients to make Whole grilled fish

  • River/ sea fish (with single center bone) 5
  • Black pepper powder 2 tsp
  • Butter to baste 3 1/2 tbsp
  • Fennel seeds 2 tsp
  • Garlic paste 5 tsp
  • Ginger paste 5 tsp
  • Ghee 3 1/2 tbsp
  • Gram flour 2 2/3 tbsp
  • Lemon juice 5 tsp
  • Red chilli powder 4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 2 tsp
  • Vinegar 3 tbsp
  • Yogurt (drained) 1 cup

How to make Whole grilled fish

  1. Marinate fish in vinegar and salt
  2. In a bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and mix to a fine paste.
  3. Rub the fish in and out with masala and leave it for 2-3 hours
  4. Preheat the oven to 175°C
  5. Skewer the fish from tail to mouth
  6. Roast in oven for 12-15 mins. Keep a tray underneath to collect the drippings
  7. Baste with butter. Remove and hang the skewers and let the excess moisture drip off
