ABOUT Gul cake RECIPE

Fusion recipe with both Indian and British taste

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Hung curd 250 gms
  2. Powder sugar 1 cup
  3. Elaichi power 1 small spoon
  4. Kesar soaked in milk 1 spoon
  5. For Cake:
  6. 1 cup maida
  7. 1 /2 cup milk powder
  8. 1/2 cup curd (it should not be very cold)
  9. 1/2 cup powder sugar
  10. 1 cup butter unsalted
  11. Vanilla essence
  12. Baking powder 1 teaspoon
  13. For home made Gulkand:
  14. Rose petals 1 kg
  15. 450 gms sugar
  16. 8 elaichi
  17. Almond chopped 15
  18. Decorative balls
  19. Sugar craft
  20. Rose petals

Instructions

  1. For shrikand:
  2. Mix hung curd, powder sugar, kesar, elaichi powder in a big bowl and keep it in freezer for 20min.
  3. For cake pre heat the oven at 180 degree.
  4. Now in a bowl mix butter and sugar together for 8 mins.
  5. Add baking powder to curd and mix it well.
  6. Now slowly add maida, milk powder, butter and sugar and keep mixing it.
  7. Add few drops of vanilla essence.
  8. Now add curd and baking powder.
  9. Mix it well. Grease the cake tin, pour the batter, tap it to remove air bubbles.
  10. Put the cake in oven and bake for 30min.
  11. For Home made Gulkand : In glass jar put the washed roses petals, sugar, elaichi and Almonds. Close the jar tightly. Keep this jar in sun light for 25 days. Keep shaking the jar daily. After 25 days Gulkand will be ready
  12. Now plating cut cake into three slices. On serving plate put the first layer of cake then the Gulkand and then cover it with shrikand. Now put the second layer and repeat the same process of layering. Then put the third layer and cover the full cake with shrikand. Keep it in refrigerator for 20 min to set.
  13. Then sprinkle some decorating colour balls and rose petals with some sugar craft. Awesome fusion Gul cake is ready.
