Potato Salad With Black Gram

Ingredients to make Potato Salad With Black Gram

  • potatoes 6 medium pieces
  • Kala channa or the black gram 1 bowl soaked in water overnight.
  • Green chilies 2 pcs finely chopped.
  • Fresh coriander 1/2 bowl roughly broken with hands
  • parsley a few bunch finely chopped.
  • salt to taste.
  • Chat masala a pinch
  • onion powder 1/4 tsp.
  • Black pepper 1/4 tsp or to taste.
  • lemon juice 1 tblsp
  • lemon zest.

How to make Potato Salad With Black Gram

  1. Boil the potatoes with a pinch of salt and a green chili. Make sure that the potatoes are firm and not over boiled. If the potatoes do get over boiled, drain them from the hot water and refrigerate them for some time.
  2. Peel the potatoes and break them roughly into pieces by hand. Cool in the fridge.
  3. Boil the kale chanae (black gram) along with a pinch of salt. The boiled channe should be firm and not over boiled. Drain the water.
  4. Take a frying pan and on medium flame dry grill the boiled kala chana to dry up the moisture and make them a little crisp.
  5. A pinch of chat masala, salt, onion powder and the green chili added to the channa while dry grilling does wonders to the taste.
  6. In a big bowl, take the potatoes, grilled kala channa, parsley, coriander and add the salt, black pepper and the lemon juice. Mix gently. Just a little toss will do as we do not want to break the potatoes into small bits.
  7. Garnish with coriander and lemon zest.
  8. Serve chilled and enjoy. Iam sure everyone is going to ask for more.
