Mango pulihara /Mango rice

Ingredients to make Mango pulihara /Mango rice

  • Mangoes- 2 big (grated ) (Sweet or semi sweet)
  • rice- 2 1/2 cups
  • Channa dal- 1/4 cup (soak and keep)
  • turmeric- 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • For the tempering:
  • oil
  • Red chillies - 10
  • green chillies - 4
  • curry leaves
  • mustard seeds - 2 tsps
  • Urad dal- 3 tsps
  • ginger- 1 to 2 tsps chopped
  • Asfoetida - 1/2 tsp

How to make Mango pulihara /Mango rice

  1. Cook the rice and soaked channa dal together with the turmeric
  2. Now let it cool till the tempering is done
  3. For the tempering take two tbsps of oil and add the ingredients under tempering
  4. Now add it to the rice and add the salt
  5. Mix.
  6. Now take the grated mango pulp
  7. Add it to the rice
  8. Mix well and keep on low heat for awhile
  9. Ready to eat

My Tip:

If you want it more tangy, can squeeze half a lemon at the end.
