Dhoie ki daal

Ingredients to make Dhoie ki daal

  • black gram skinned(soaked) - 1 cup
  • onion 1 small
  • bayleaf 1
  • green cardamom 1-2
  • black cardamom 1-2
  • cloves 1-2
  • black pepper 5-6
  • ginger-garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • ghee 2 tbsp
  • For tempering:
  • ghee - 2 tbsp
  • chopped onion 1 small
  • cumin seeds - 1 tsp

How to make Dhoie ki daal

  1. Heat ghee in a pan. Add chopped onion, black cardamom, green cardamom, cloves, black pepper and bay leaf. Saute till onion changes colour.
  2. Now add ginger - garlic paste stir well. Add chopped green chilli, garam masala powder mix well.
  3. Add soaked daal and fry for a few minutes, add salt and 1/2 cup water cover the lid.
  4. After 1 whistle turn the flame low and cook daal about 4-5 minutes.
  5. In a pan heat ghee. Add cumin seeds and chopped onion saute till onion turns brown. Pour the tadka over the daal and serve hot.
