Cabbage-dal koshimbir

Ingredients to make Cabbage-dal koshimbir

  • chana dal - 4 Tbsp
  • cabbage - 1 small grated
  • Grated coconut - 2 tbsp
  • For the Tadka :
  • rai - 1 to 2 tsp
  • 4 to 5 - curry leaves
  • 1/3 tsp - asafoetida / Hing powder
  • green chillies - 1 to 2
  • 1 tsp - haldi powder
  • salt to taste
  • olive oil/ghee as required
  • lime juice (optional)
  • coriander leaves fresh

How to make Cabbage-dal koshimbir

  1. Soak chana dal/Bengal gram for 2 - 3 hours. Drain and grind coarse.
  2. Mix cabbage (patta gobhi), dal paste & coconut.
  3. Heat oil in a small pan, add rai seeds, hing powder, green chillies, curry leaves and Haldi powder.
  4. Add all this tadka to dal cabbage mix and let it cook for a few minutes, add salt and lime juice, if using.
  5. Serve hot after garnishing it with coriander leaves
