Mooli ki kadhi

Ingredients to make Mooli ki kadhi

  • Mooli/ radish 1 medium sized, grated
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/3 tsp rai/ mustard
  • 1/3 tsp jeera
  • 1/4 tsp hing
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 heaped tsp ginger garlic paste
  • Chopped green chillies according to taste
  • 1 cup yogurt with 1 tbsp besan (mixed well in a bowl along with some water)
  • Salt to taste

How to make Mooli ki kadhi

  1. Heat the oil in a pan. Temper the rai/ mustard seeds. Once these crackle, add the cumin seeds, methi seeds, hing/ asoefotida & curry leaves.
  2. Once this is done, add the ginger-garlic paste along with the green chillies and turmeric powder.
  3. Once the raw smell goes, add the grated mooli/radish and cook covered with a bit of water.
  4. Add salt to taste.
  5. Once this is cooked, add the yogurt-besan mix after taking the pan off the heat. Cook till it comes to a boil and let it further cook for a few more minutes.
  6. Turn the flame off and let it sit for a few minutes. It will thicken slightly on standing.
  7. Adjust seasoning. Serve hot garnished with some chopped green chillies.
My Tip: This dish goes very well with steamed rice and hot pulkhas.
