Dal Dhokli

Ingredients to make Dal Dhokli

  • 250 grams - tur daal
  • 100 grams - wheat flour
  • 100 grams - besan
  • 3 green chilies
  • 50 grams - groundnut
  • 8 cashewnuts
  • 1/2 tbsp - Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tbsp - Cumin
  • 4-5 cloves of chopped garlic
  • Salt To Tast
  • 1/2 tbsp - Garam masala
  • tbsp - Jeera Powder
  • 1 tbsp - Red chili powder
  • 1/2 tbsp - hing
  • 3-4 tbsp Ghee
  • Water as required
  • Chopped Coriander for garnishing

How to make Dal Dhokli

  1. Mix wheat flour, besan, 1/2 tbsp salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and knead to a soft dough. Cover and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add tur dal, ground nuts, chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, chili powder, water and salt. Cook for 15 minutes.
  3. Open the pressure cooker and stir to bring in consistency. Heat ghee in a pot, add cumin seeds, chopped garlic and split cashew nuts and saute.
  4. When they crackle, add green chilies and a pinch of asafoetida. Pour the tadka on the dal in the pressure cooker.
  5. Add cumin powder, garam masala and mix well.
  6. Roll out big Roti's and cut them into diamond shaped pieces.
  7. Finally add these pieces in the boiling dal.
  8. Boil for another 10 minutes and remove. Garnish with chopped coriander. Serve warm dal dhokli.
