Punjabi kadhi

Ingredients to make Punjabi kadhi

  • For the gravy:
  • Thick beaten curd - 2 cups
  • Water - 4 cups
  • Salt - to taste
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Dhaniya powder-1 tsp
  • Jeera powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Haldi powder - 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp or according to taste.
  • For the pakodas:
  • Besan - 5 tbsp
  • Chopped onion - 1
  • Chopped coriander for garnishing
  • Chopped green chilli for spiciness
  • Ghee 2 tbsp + 1 tbsp for tempering
  • Chopped coriander for garnishing

How to make Punjabi kadhi

  1. Combine curd and water.
  2. Add all the dry spices and mix well.
  3. Saute chopped onions, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste till oil separates.
  4. Add curd and water batter and bring it to a boil.
  5. Simmer for 10 mins.
  6. Make pakodas with pakoda ingredients and add the same in curd mixture.
  7. Temper with hing and jeera
My Tip: Add tempered hing and jeera in desi ghee with a pinch of haldi and red chilli powder for the desired color and flavor.
