Ingredients to make Odia style mutton curry

  • Mutton- 1 kg
  • Onion- 1/2 kg
  • Curd- 4 tblsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder for spiciness
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli 2
  • Mustard oil 1 tsp
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Cinnamon 1"
  • Green cardamom 4
  • Black cardamom 1
  • Cloves 3
  • Black pepper 5
  • Cumin seed 1 tblsp
  • Coriander seed 2 tblsp
  • Ginger 1"
  • Garlic 5
  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Tomatoes 2
  • Potatoes 2

How to make Odia style mutton curry

  1. First marinated the mutton with turmeric, salt, curd, mustard oil.
  2. Then grind a smooth paste of ginger, garlic, onion, green cardamom, black cardamom, cloves, black pepper, cinnamon, coriander seed, cumin seed.
  3. Heat a pressure cooker add mustard oil, then add bay leaf, sliced onion, fry it til it is golden brown.
  4. Add turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chilli powder, cook it for a second. Then add the ground paste, fry it well.
  5. Once you see oil around the masala add sliced tomatoes, cook the tomatoes till it is mushy then add mutton pieces..if you are using potato then add it now..cook it for 20 to 30 min in a slow flame.
  6. After that add water and cook it in a high flame for one whistle.. after that slow the flame cook it for two whistle
  7. Then switch off the flame. Open the lid add some fresh coriander leaves and green cardamom powder..cover it for a while.
  8. Your mutton curry is ready to eat..Enjoy
