French Beans Poriyal

Ingredients to make French Beans Poriyal

  • 1/2 kg - French beans (finely chopped or cut lengthwise)
  • 2 tbsp - grated fresh coconut
  • 1 tbsp - mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp - urad dal
  • 1 tbsp - chana dal
  • A pinch of Heeng/asafoetida
  • ginger chilly paste to taste
  • 2-3 curry leaves
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli Paste - optional

How to make French Beans Poriyal

  1. Mix salt and turmeric with the beans and steam, making sure that the green colour remains.
  2. In a heated pan, add mustard seeds. When they splutter add urad dal and chana dal.
  3. When the smell penetrates, add curry leaves & finally mix in the steamed vegetables, ginger chilly paste & fresh coconut.
