SABUT MOONG DAL TADKA

Ingredients to make SABUT MOONG DAL TADKA

  • 1 cup whole moong
  • 4 cups of water
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp jeera
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tbsp ginger green chillies paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 2 cups fresh tomato puree
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp rajma masala
  • 1 tbsp kasoori methi
  • 1/4 cup malai
  • 1/2 cup milk to adjust the consistency
  • 2 tbsp cream for garnishing

How to make SABUT MOONG DAL TADKA

  1. Wash the moong nicely
  2. In a pressure cooker put together moong , salt and water
  3. Close the lid and put it on gas stove
  4. Cook on high for one whistle
  5. Then make the gas low
  6. Cook further for 15- 20 minutes
  7. In the meantime heat ghee in a pan
  8. Put jeera, cloves and cinnamon
  9. Let them splutter, then add ginger green chillies paste
  10. Cook for a while, then add garlic paste, saute for a minute
  11. Then add red chilli powder, mix well
  12. Now add tomato puree, mix nicely
  13. Cook on low heat until all the moisture evaporates
  14. Now add kasoori methi and malai
  15. Mix nicely and cook for 2 minutes
  16. The cooker must be cool down by now
  17. Mix the cooked dal nicely
  18. Then add it to the masala
  19. Mix well and add milk and rajma masala
  20. Mix well and let it simmer for 10 minutes
  21. The dal is ready
  22. Take it out in a serving bowl
  23. Garnish with some cream
