Chatakedar Choley

Ingredients to make Chatakedar Choley

  • 1/2 kg- Kabuli channa (boiled)
  • 4 large- onions minced
  • 7- 8 large - tomatoes pureed
  • 2 tsp - ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp - Garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp - amchoor powder
  • 1 tsp - chaat masala
  • 1 tsp - black salt
  • 1 tbsp - Anaardana
  • 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 4-5 no. - green chillies chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp - Refined oil
  • For Garnishing:
  • 1 tbsp - sliced ginger
  • 1 tbsp - chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 no. - Chopped green chillies
  • A slice of lemon
  • Khada masalas:
  • 3-4 laung
  • 2-3 big cardamom
  • 1-3 small cardamom
  • 1 tsp sabut jeera
  • 4-5 bay leaves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1-2 javitri
  • 1 piece dalchini

How to make Chatakedar Choley

  1. Soak kabuli chanas overnight in a pressure cooker
  2. In the morning pressure cook the channas adding 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp baking soda
  3. Keep aside. Heat oil in pan and add all the khada masalas
  4. Now add the minced onions
  5. Saute till slightly brownish in color
  6. Add the ginger garlic paste
  7. Saute for 5 minutes
  8. Add the pureed tomatoes
  9. Stir well
  10. Add the dry masalas and saute for 10-15 minutes on slow flame
  11. Cook till it leaves oil on sides
  12. Now add the boiled kabuli chana.
  13. Stir gently
  14. Adjust spices and salt
  15. Cook on slow flame for 7-8 minutes
  16. Switch off the gas
  17. Place in a serving bowl
  18. Garnish with ginger, green chillies and chopped coriander

My Tip:

Please check salt in between, so that its not more than required.
