Chana dal barfi

Ingredients to make Chana dal barfi

  • Chana dal 2 cup
  • Sugar 2 cup
  • Milk 2 cup+ 3/4 cup for soaking
  • Fresh cream 1/2 cup
  • Ghee 1 cup
  • Few corns of cardamom

How to make Chana dal barfi

  1. Soak chana dal in water for 2 hours.
  2. Drain chana dal in strainer and soak in milk for another 2 hour.
  3. Boil chana dal with milk till moister goes out.
  4. Cool completely and grind into fine paste without drop of water.
  5. Heat ghee in non stick kadai and roast mixture in it. Stir constantly.
  6. Keep stirring until sweet aroma comes out from it and mixture changes its colour till brown.
  7. Add sugar and keep stirring.
  8. Add milk and fresh cream into mixture.
  9. Keep stirring until all water dries out and ghee leaves its side.
  10. Grease tin or thali and spread mixture.
  11. Cut into desired shape.
  12. Set for two hours.
  13. Garnish with cardamom.

My Tip:

Sweet fragrance and constantly stirring is key to make perfect barfi.
