Chana Dal Chutney

Ingredients to make Chana Dal Chutney

  • 2 tablespoon chana dal
  • 1/2 Dry coconut (kobri)
  • 1/2 teaspoon jeera
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper corns
  • Tamarind
  • Salt
  • 6 - 8 dry red chilli (byadagi + guntur chilli)
  • 1 Teaspoon oil
  • Water for grinding

How to make Chana Dal Chutney

  1. In a kadai add oil, chana dal and fry till light brown.
  2. Add in dry red chillies and fry.
  3. Add in dry coconut (kobri) and fry.
  4. Add jeera and pepper. Fry. Once done allow it to cool.
  5. Transfer the cooled mixture to a jar. Add in salt and tamarind. Add enough water and grind to a smooth paste.
  6. Chana dal chutney ready.
My Tip: Fry the dal nicely. This gives a nice aroma to the chutney.
