Dal Makhani

Ingredients to make Dal Makhani

  • 1 cup whole urad dal
  • 1/2 cup rajama
  • 1/4 cup white matar
  • 1/4 cup black channa
  • 2-3 chopped onions
  • 2-3 tomato puree
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chill powder
  • 1 big spoon everest dal makhani masala
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 1 big spoon oil
  • 2 big spoon butter
  • 1 spoon kasoori methi
  • Salt to taste

How to make Dal Makhani

  1. Soak all the dals for 4-5 hours
  2. Cook in pressure cooker add turmeric and salt and cook it till tender
  3. Heat oil and butter in pan and add bay leaves and asafoetida to it
  4. Now add chopped onions and cook till nice brown in color
  5. Add ginger garlic paste sauté a bit and add tomato puree
  6. When mixed properly add the cooked dal and all the dry masala
  7. Mix it well and slow down the gas and close the lid and cook it for 10 minutes
  8. When the dal is all together with masala add kasoori methi and fresh cream. Just mix it for a while and off the gas
  9. Take it out in the serving dish garnish it with butter fresh cream and chopped green coriander and serve hot with roti or naan
My Tip: If the dal is not cooked properly add a bit of cooking soda in it
