Ingredients Serving: 4
Masoor soaked 1 cup
Methi (fenugreek leaves frozen) 3/4 Cup
Sooji 1 cup
Curd 3/4 cup
Buttermilk 1 cup.
Oil 1/2 cup
Chilli powder 1 tsp / to taste
Dhania powder 1 tsp
Garlic crushed 1 tsp
Ginger grated 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Baking powder 1/2 tsp
Baking soda 1/3 tsp
Sesame seeds roasted 2 tsp
Oil for seasoning.
Asafoetida and mustard seeds for seasoning.
Dry red chill for seasoning 1
Curry patta for seasoning- few.
Instructions
Keep soaked masoor for boiling with a required amount of water.
Thaw methi leaves.
Till that we will prepare batter. Take sooji in a pan, add oil, salt and curd.
Mix everything taking care not to form lumps. Now add half buttermilk stirring well. Cover and keep for 10 minutes.
Add cooked (not over cooked) masoor and methi.
The batter must be thick as sooji soaks water. So add buttermilk to get required consistency batter for cake. Add baking powder and soda and give a nice stir.
Preheat oven at 180 C. Transfer the batter to the greased oven proof pan.
Spread roasted Sesame seeds over it. Heat oil, add asafoetida, mustard seeds, red chill and curry patta.
Spread seasoning over the cake batter and back in a preheated oven for 20 minutes.
Make a toothpick taste. Bake for another 5 minutes for a nice brown color.
Let it set for 10 minutes. And here is your healthy yummy savory cake.
After 10 minutes cut and enjoy with a cup of coffee / tea.
The same cup I have used for all the measurements is my 200 ml cup
