Chickpea Falafel

Ingredients to make Chickpea Falafel

  • Chickpea - 2 cups
  • Onion - 1 large choped
  • Green Chilly - 4 chopped
  • Garlic - 6-7 cloves
  • Cumin seeds - ½ tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder - ½ tsp
  • Chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Rice Flour or all purpose flour - 1 tbsp
  • A handful chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 1 cup

How to make Chickpea Falafel

  1. Soak the Chickpea overnight or atleast for 3-4 hours.
  2. Take the soaked Chickpea in a blender or grinder. Add all the ingredients mentioned above except oil. Blend it to a coarse mixture. Do not blend it finely. The mixture show be coarse.
  3. Make small portion of the mixture and roll into balls or you can gently flatten it after making balls.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan. When the oil is hot simmer the flame and drop the balls or patty and fry in simmer for 2-3  mins and then increase to medium heat and fry till golden and crisp from outside.
  5. Drain in absorbent paper and serve it with sauce or dipping of your choice or as a stuffing in pita.
