Ingredients to make Mandira Meetha Palau/ Khichdi Bhoga/ Khichuri

  • 1 1/2 cup basmati rice soaked in water for half an hour
  • 1 cup moong dal roasted and soaked in water for half an hour
  • ½ cup carrot chopped
  • ½ cup green peas
  • ½ cup cauliflower cut into small pieces
  • ½ cup green beans chopped
  • 2 tbsp cashew nuts
  • 2 tbsp raisins
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2-3 whole black pepper crushed
  • 1 green chilli chopped
  • 1 black cardamom
  • 1 green cardamom
  • 1 cinnamon
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp ghee/ oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder

How to make Mandira Meetha Palau/ Khichdi Bhoga/ Khichuri

  1. Take a pressure cooker and add ghee to it.
  2. Next add green chilies and allow it to sizzle.
  3. Add all the chopped vegetables and toss.
  4. Then add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder and mix again.
  5. Next goes in rice and dal. Mix again.
  6. Add 4 cups of water, salt and sugar to taste.
  7. Gently stir with spatula.
  8. Cover the lid and cook on high for 2 whistles.
  9. Lower the flame and cook for 2 minutes. Switch off flame and allow pressure to drop completely.
  10. Open lid, add cashew nuts and raisins fried in ghee.
  11. Add chopped coriander leaves. Mix.
