ABOUT Stuffed Sooji tikki (Crunchy Tikki) RECIPE

Stuffed sooji tikki is crunchy from outside and soft from inside. You can eat it in two different ways. One with any chutney or sauce during tea time or breakfast and second eat it as a chaat with curd, chutney, namkeen etc.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 3/4 cup - sooji
  2. 1/4 cup - roasted peanut coarsely powder
  3. 1/2 cup - cilantro finely chopped
  4. 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp water
  5. 1 tbsp - green chili and ginger paste
  6. 1/2 tsp - Ajwain (Carom Seed)
  7. Stuffing : 2 - potatoes medium sized and boiled
  8. 1/4 cup - cilantro finely chopped
  9. 1/4 cup - coconut powder
  10. 1/4 cup - cashew powder
  11. 1 tbsp - green chili and ginger paste
  12. 1/2 tsp - red chili powder
  13. 1/2 tsp - coriander powder
  14. 1 tsp - mango powder
  15. chaat masala as desired
  16. oil as required
  17. Salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. Take a wok/ kadai/pan, boil the water . Add carom seed, salt, oil, cilantro ,chili and ginger paste. Boil for few seconds then add sooji and peanut powder. Mix well.
  2. When the sooji has absorbed all the water, turn off the gas and stir for 2-3 mins with the help of Spatula. Take it out in a bowl and keep it aside.
  3. Peel and mash the boiled potatoes it in a bowl. Add all ingredients for stuffing except oil and mix well.
  4. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, add potato Masala and cook for 3-4 mins.Keep it aside.
  5. Grease your hands with oil and put sooji dough between your palm and knead for 1 minute. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying .
  6. Divide the sooji dough into equal parts and make them ball shape Take a medium ball from sooji dough, spread it and make bowl shape. Put one table spoon of boiled potato and close gently..
  7. Put your Tikkis into the oil. Fry it on medium heat from both side until it become brown in color and crispy.
  8. Sprinkle some Chaat Masala on the tikkis.Enjoy it with either Green Chutney or Sweet Chutney as per your taste.
