Mushroom Masala

Ingredients to make Mushroom Masala

  • Button mushrooms one packet/ 400 gm cleaned and cut into quarters
  • Onion one big slit long
  • Tomato 2 medium cut finely
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 teaspoons
  • Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  • Red chilly powder 1 teaspoon
  • Crushed Jaggery 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric pinch
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
  • Cumin and corinader powder 1 teaspoon
  • Oil 2 teaspoon
  • For tempering: asafotida, two slit greenchillies, cumin and mustard seeds.
  • Salt to taste

How to make Mushroom Masala

  1. Heat oil in pan
  2. Add tempering of asafotida, cumin and mustard seed, slit green chillies. Let it splutter
  3. Add onions and saute
  4. Add ginger garlic paste
  5. Cook till onions become translucent
  6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft
  7. Now add mushrooms and mix well
  8. Cover the lid and cook till mushrooms shrink and leave moisture
  9. Now add garam masala, cumin coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and jaggery
  10. Mix well and cook till mushrooms are soft
  11. Add salt as per taste.
  12. Garnish with corinader leaves.
My Tip: Cut big pieces of mushrooms. Small pieces would break and disintegrate.
