Ingredients to make Mohanthal

  • 500 gms gram flour
  • 350 gms ghee
  • 400 gms sugar
  • 3 tbsp warm milk
  • 2tbsp ghee extra
  • 1tsp cardmom powder
  • Badam and pistachio flakes
  • 1 tsp Kesar / saffron ,soaked in milk
  • 1 cup water for sugar syrup

How to make Mohanthal

  1. Take gram/besan flour in a bowl.
  2. Add two tsp ghee.
  3. Add milk and just mix with your fingers.
  4. It should be crumbly.
  5. Now sieve it with big hole sieve.
  6. It will look like rava.
  7. Now add ghee in deep pan.
  8. Add this gram flour rava in it.
  9. At first bubbles will be formed.
  10. Stir it continously.
  11. Do it all in low flame.
  12. It will take around 10-15 minutes.
  13. Meanwhile, in other pan add sugar and water.
  14. Make a sugar syrup of one string consistency.
  15. When gram flour mix starts leaving ghee
  16. Add sugar syrup. and keep stirring.
  17. Add dry fruits &cardmom powder.
  18. Add Kesar soaked in milk.
  19. After 8-10 minutes this mixture will leave the sides of the pan.
  20. Immediately transfer to a plate and just press it.
  21. Cut into pieces.

My Tip:

You can store this for 6-8 days at room temperature. You can also add mawa /milk solids.
