Waffled Falafel

Ingredients to make Waffled Falafel

  • 1 Cup, Chickpeas (Washed and soaked in enough water overnight and boiled)
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 ½ tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp, fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 tsp, cumin seeds
  • 2 to 3 tbsp, multigrain flour or all purpose flour
  • 2, green chillies, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper powder, to taste
  • Butter, for greasing
  • Diced red bell pepper, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce and cucumber – for serving

How to make Waffled Falafel

  1. Drain the excess water from the boiled chickpeas and allow it to cool down.
  2. Blend boiled chickpeas, garlic, onion, parsley, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, salt, black pepper powder, green chillies and flour together into coarse mixture.
  3. Transfer the mixture into a bowl. Cover it with the lid and keep it in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours.
  4. Grease waffle iron with butter. Flatten the falafel ball lightly and put it on the preheated waffle iron.
  5. Cover and cook it for 5 minutes or until it turn golden in colour.
  6. Repeat the process for making more waffled falafel.
  7. Take a serving plate and arrange vegetables over it.
  8. Now put waffled falafel over it and serve with hummus or with any other dipping sauce.
