Moong Dal Cookies

Ingredients to make Moong Dal Cookies

  • 1 cup - roasted moong dal (dehusked green gram lentil)
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 2tsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp ghee/butter
  • 4 tsp jaggery powder or sugar powder (adjust)
  • 1/2tsp baking soda
  • 1tsp water or milk
  • salt a pinch
  • Til/Sesame seeds (for garnishing)

How to make Moong Dal Cookies

  1. Wash and dry roast the lentils and allow them to cool down.
  2. Grind the lentils to powder upon cooling.
  3. Mix with oatmeal and add baking soda.
  4. Sieve the flours well and then add salt.
  5. Whisk jaggery powder with ghee and oil until light and fluffy.
  6. Combine dry and wet ingredients. Do not knead.
  7. Drop in sesame seeds.
  8. Add milk if the dough looks dry.
  9. Make a ball or log and cover with a cling film.
  10. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  11. Pree heat oven 170 degrees for 10 mts. I have made in air fryer so preheated for 4 minutes.
  12. Take out the cookie dough and roll it out like a chapati.
  13. Use a cookie cutter or bangle to give cookie shapes.
  14. Airfry/bake for 10-12 minutes at 170 degrees.
  15. Allow them to cool before munching on these golden beauties.
My Tip: Make it with a fresh batch of roasted moong dal for better taste.
