Kobi Dal Nu Muthiya

Ingredients to make Kobi Dal Nu Muthiya

  • 1 small cabbage
  • 1/2 cup moong dal powder
  • 1/2 cup besan
  • 1/2 inch ginger piece
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 2 green chilies
  • 3 tablespoon oil
  • 2 pinches hing
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon jeera , whole
  • 10 to 12 fresh curry leaves
  • ¼ teaspoon haldi
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder

How to make Kobi Dal Nu Muthiya

  1. Grind or grate the cabbage
  2. Let it stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Add besan, moong dal powder, salt, ginger, green chilies, red chili powder, lemon juice, 1 pinch hing, sugar and 1 tablespoon oil.
  4. Mix gently and make a dough.
  5. No need to add water as cabbage will leave moisture.
  6. Make muthiyas, logs with the dough.
  7. The logs can be about 2 inches long with diameter ¾ inch.
  8. Steam it in a steamer.
  9. In a non stick pan, take 2 tablespoon oil.
  10. Add in the mustard seeds, jeera, 1 pinch hing, haldi, curry leaves.
  11. When it splutter add in the steamed muthiyas.
  12. ( Can cut the Muthiyas into halves )
  13. Saute for about 5 minutes.
  14. Stir once or twice so that both sides get cooked to golden brown.
  15. Garnish and serve hot.
