Ingredients to make Lal Chori Nu Shaak(Adzuki Beans/Red Cowpeas)

  • Lal chori-1 cup
  • tomato-1 big
  • onion- 1big
  • chilli garlic ginger paste-1 tsp
  • oil-1 tbsp
  • cumin seeds-1 tsp
  • asafoetida-1 pinch
  • salt
  • turmeric-1/4 tsp
  • Chili powder-1 tsp
  • cumin powder-1 tsp
  • coriander powder-1 tsp
  • Garam masala-1 tsp
  • lemon juice-1 tsp
  • jaggery-1 tsp

How to make Lal Chori Nu Shaak(Adzuki Beans/Red Cowpeas)

  1. Wash and soak chori for 4 hours.
  2. After 4 hours remove water and put it in a cooker with 3 cups of fresh water and salt.
  3. Cook for 5 to 6 whistles.
  4. After it cools, take a pan and heat oil.
  5. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida.
  6. Then add ginger garlic paste and chopped onions.
  7. After onions are cooked add chopped tomatoes and saute till they become soft.
  8. Add all the spices and mix.
  9. Now add the boiled chori with the water.
  10. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  11. Add lemon juice and jaggery.
  12. Lastly, garnish with coriander and serve hot with pulkas and rice.
