This is a parsi speciality, cooked in almost every parsi house. Something very different and lovely in taste.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Mutton of lamb 1kg
  2. Bhinda/okras 1/2 kg cut into 1" (deep fried)
  3. Onions chopped finely 3
  4. Tomatoes chopped finely 2 big
  5. Ginger, garlic, green chilli.fresh turmeric paste 1 tsp
  6. Red chillli, garlic, jeera, garam masala paste 1 tsp
  7. Dried coconut powder 1-2tsps
  8. -Whole spices like cloves 2, Cardamoms 2, black peppercorns 3-4, Cinnamon stick 1" 2
  9. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  10. Dhanya jeera powder 1 tsp
  11. Parsi sambhar powder 1 tsp
  12. Garam masala powder 1/4tsp

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a cooker and add the red whole chillies and whole spices. Saute them lightly till they leave an aroma.
  2. Add onions to it and saute till transparent. Add coconut powder and saute for a minute.
  3. Add ginger garlic and red chilli garlic paste.
  4. Add mutton, tomatoes, all the masala powders,1 full glass of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  5. Once done, turn off the flame and wait till the steam releases. Open the lid and check for the water contents. If too liquidy, boil it again till some water evaporates and get the slightly thick gravy.
  6. Add to it fried bhindi/okras on top or mix them in and serve hot with roti.
