A Rajasthani delicacy. This roti can be had as a snack or main meal. The special thing about this roti is the crunch of dal in every bite. These are also a good option for travel food.

Ingredients Serving: 7

  1. Dhuli moong dal 1/2 cup
  2. Whole Wheat Flour 1 cup
  3. oil 2 tbsp
  4. Salt 1 tsp
  5. Ajwain 1/2 tsp
  6. Red chili powder 1/4tsp
  7. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  8. Green chilies 2
  9. Ginger Paste 1 Tsp
  10. Green coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  11. Oil for roasting

Instructions

  1. Ground the moong dal coarsely.
  2. Soak the dal in a cup of water. Let it soak for 3 hours.
  3. Drain the excess water in soaked dal after 3 hours.
  4. In a mixing bowl take whole wheat flour, soaked and drained dal, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, Ajwain, chopped green chilies, chopped green coriander leaves and oil.
  5. Combine all together into a tight dough. Use a table spoon of water if needed.
  6. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes.
  7. Divide the dough into 7 equal portions.
  8. Dust the kitchen platform with plain flour and roll each ball into a small disc.
  9. Heat a griddle and place one disc on it. Turn over after a minute and cook on both sides by applying oil and pressing with ladle till crisp and golden.
  10. Relish with a pickle.
