Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup masoor dal washed and soaked for half an hour
  2. 2 bunches of methi leaves/fenugreek leaves
  3. 1 tsp turmeric
  4. 1 tsp red chili powder
  5. 2 tbsp oil
  6. 1 onion finely sliced
  7. 1 tomato finely chopped
  8. salt to taste
  9. 1 tbsp ghee/butter
  10. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  11. 2 whole red chili
  12. 3-4 garlic cloves crushed
  13. few curry leaves

Instructions

  1. Boil dal with salt in a pan or pressure cooker till soft. Heat oil in a pan and fry the onion till translucent.
  2. Add the tomato and cook till the tomato is tender. Mix in turmeric powder and red chili powder. Saute for a minute and add the fenugreek leaves/methi and cook till the methi leaves/fenugreek leaves turn its color.
  3. Add this cooked methi masala to the cooked dal. Mix well. Now heat ghee/butter in a pan for tempering/tadka. Add the mustard seeds, jeera, who red chili, garlic cloves and curry leaves.
  4. Add this tempering/tadka over the methi dal. Your methi dal recipe is ready to serve hot.
