ABOUT Punjabi Bhrawan Karela( Stuffed Bitter Gourd) RECIPE

It is a spicy and tangy Punjabi recipe. You can eat it with chapati, parantha. And also take it with you when you are traveling.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Bitter gourd ( karela ) 1 kg.
  2. Onion 600 gms
  3. Tomato 700 gms
  4. Green chili 3 or to taste
  5. Raw mango 2
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Chat masala 1 tablespoon
  8. Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  9. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Make a slit in center of karela and remove all seeds. Wash with water and set aside for drying.
  2. Now chop onion, green chili, raw mango, and tomato. Put it into a mixer and make a fine paste.
  3. Now heat two tablespoons oil and heat it up. Now add the paste to it. And cook till masala leaves the oil. After that add salt, turmeric powder, chat masala. Set aside.
  4. Now add oil in a pan for frying bitter gourd. When oil becomes hot add bitter gourd 4 or 5 pieces. Turn them time to time till they turn golden brown. Repeat this for whole bitter gourd. Fry all in the same way.
  5. Now fill this masala into karelas with the help of a spoon. Fill all karela.
  6. Your tangy bitter is ready. Serve with chapati or Paratha.
