Ingredients to make Then Mittayi

  • Idli rice-1/2cup
  • Urad dal-3tbsp
  • Baking powder-a pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Red food colour
  • Sugar-1/2cup
  • Water-1/4cup
  • Oil for frying
  • Sugar to coat

How to make Then Mittayi

  1. Wash and soak idli rice, urad dal for 3 hours
  2. Blend it by adding little water (it should be like dosa batter)
  3. Add salt,baking powder & food colour
  4. Now make sugar syrup by boiling 1/4 cup water and 1/2 cup sugar
  5. Take a pan add oil when it boils
  6. Pour 3/4th tsp of batter through the oil so as to get a ball shaped structure
  7. When it cooked drain and put it in to sugar syrup (sugar syrup should be maintained at the room temperature so that it won't get hardened)
  8. Finally coat this then mittayi sugar crystals
My Tip: It can be stored for 1 week
