ABOUT Jaljeera RECIPE

A drink that not only cools you down but is great for a happy tummy. An appetizer before the meal and a digestive drink when had after a meal.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Mint leaves - 1 tbsp
  2. Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp
  3. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  4. Pepper - 1/4 tsp
  5. Tamarind - marble sized ball
  6. Water - 4-5 glasses
  7. Chat Masala - 1-2 tbsp
  8. Black salt - 1/2 tbsp
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Boondi - 2 tbsp (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Soak the tamarind in some lukewarm water and let it soften a bit.
  2. Wash mint and coriander leaves and keep it in a colander for the excess water to drain out.
  3. Roast the cumin seeds for a couple of minutes. Remove from pan and let it cool.
  4. In the meantime squeeze out the tamarind pulp by adding enough water.
  5. In a blender grind the mint, coriander leaves, roasted cumin, and pepper to a fine paste. Add a little water to get a pasty consistency.
  6. Mix the ground paste and tamarind pulp, to this add the chat masala, black salt, and normal salt.
  7. Add chilled water to make about 4 glasses and mix well.
  8. Garnish with some crunchy Boondi and Jal jeera is ready to be savored.
