Ingredients to make Bisi Bele Bath

  • Ingredients to roast and ground to a fine powder:
  • 2 tbsp urad dal
  • 2 tbsp chana dal
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 50 grams Dry coconut powder
  • 4 to 5 Whole Chili
  • 3 tbsp coriander seeds
  • Other Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Toor dal
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • oil- 2 tsp + 1 tbsp
  • 2 small tomatoes cubed
  • 7 to 8 florets of cauliflower
  • 1 big carrot cubed
  • 3/4 cup Green beans
  • 1 to 2 capsicum cubed
  • 1/2 cup Green peas
  • For the tempering:
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 to 5 Green chili
  • Few curry leaves
  • Chopped cashew nuts
  • 2 tomatoes chopped
  • 1 tsp hing
  • 2 cups rice

How to make Bisi Bele Bath

  1. Boil Toor Dal with water, turmeric powder. Cook till dal is soft.
  2. Roast ingredients to a powder in 2 tsp oil and powder it.Saute all vegetables in 2 tbsp oil.
  3. .Cook rice with vegetables, powdered spice made above, salt, few curry leaves and tamarind extract.
  4. Add cooked dal and cook till everything blends well.Adjust water.
  5. For tempering, heat oil in a pan.
  6. Add Hing, followed by rest of the ingredients and pour over the cooked mix.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
  8. Serve hot with papad
