Chana Achaari

Ingredients to make Chana Achaari

  • Chickpea/Kabuli Chana 2 cups
  • Onion 2
  • Tomato 2
  • Mango Pickle 1 tablespoon
  • Haldi powder 1/2 teaspoons
  • Red chilly powder 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala /Chana Powder 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Garlic 4 to 5 peeled cloves
  • Grated ginger 2 teaspoons
  • Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Jeera 1 teaspoon

How to make Chana Achaari

  1. Wash and soak Chana in sufficient water at least for 4 to 5 hours
  2. Add some salt and Haldi to soaked chana and pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles
  3. Make puree of onion, tomatoes, and garlic
  4. Heat oil in a pan and crackle jeera
  5. Add Haldi, Mirchi and coriander powder .sauté for few seconds and add onion tomato garlic puree
  6. Sauté till oil separates and masala becomes dry
  7. Now add 1 tablespoon Mango pickle and chana masala
  8. Add boiled and cooked chana and mix well
  9. Cook on low heat till extra water or juices dry up
  10. Achari /Pickle Chana masala is ready to serve, garnish with chopped coriander and onion
  11. Serve with Chapati, Phulka or Rice
My Tip: Add salt cautiously because Pickle too consists of salt
