Spinach Chola Curry

Ingredients to make Spinach Chola Curry

  • 1 cup kabuli chana
  • 3 cups spinach chopped
  • 2 nos Slit green chillies
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 1 tsp ginger and garlic crushed
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tbsp Chana masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder

How to make Spinach Chola Curry

  1. Wash and soak the Kabuli chana in enough water overnight.Next morning add turmeric and pressure cook chana until soft but not mushy.
  2. In a pan add oil once hot add in the crushed ginger and garlic. Saute for a couple of minutes until fragrant.
  3. Next stir in the green chillies and tomato puree. Cover and cook until oil separates.
  4. Now add the cooked chana, chana masala, coriander powder, red chilli powder and simmer for ten minutes.So that all the masalas get Incorporated into the chana.
  5. Next add in the chopped spinach along with salt as per taste. Cook on medium heat for few minutes. Within no time the spinach gets wilted and cooked.
  6. Give it a good stir, adjust the seasoning, consistency and serve.
  7. Simple yet so healthy Spinach chana curry ready to dress up your table.

My Tip:

Add just enough water while boiling chana so that we need not discard the liquid and can directly add to the curry.
