Ingredients to make Fish and chips

  • 200g Fish (any white fish)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornflour
  • 1/3 cup Club soda
  • 1 kg potatoes peeled
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

How to make Fish and chips

  1. In a large bowl mix together flour, cornflour, baking powder, salt and pepper.
  2. Add club soda to the flour mixture and mix until thick smooth batter is formed. Refrigerate for 30-69 mins.
  3. Cut the potatoes into desired size. Rinse through cold water.
  4. Place rinsed potatoes in a utensil with cold water. Boil it and simmer for 5-10 mins. Drain and dry on kitchen towel.
  5. Heat the oil and deep fry the boiled potatoes. Don’t brown them, remove when they are slightly cooked.
  6. Toss the fish pieces in some dry flour and little salt, then dip in the batter and fry until they are golden brown and crisp.
  7. Fry the potato chips again, until they are light golden brown. Remove and drain on kitchen towel.
  8. Serve the chips with fried fish pieces and ketchup!
