Mutton Dalcha

Ingredients to make Mutton Dalcha

  • 300 gms Mutton pieces
  • 3/4 cup Bengal gram dal
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1.5 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 green chilies
  • 3 onions, thin sliced
  • 2 tbsp ghee

How to make Mutton Dalcha

  1. Cut the mutton into 1-inch cubes. Soak the chana dal in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Boil the dal with 1/4 Tsp. turmeric powder and enough water until tender. Mash well and set aside.
  3. Fry two sliced onions till they are crisp. Crush and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil, add the remaining sliced onion and fry till brown.
  5. Add the ginger-garlic paste, remaining turmeric powder and fry till light brown, then add the mutton and fry till oil separates.
  6. Add chili powder, coriander powder, and 2 cups water and cook till the mutton is tender.
  7. To the mutton add the mashed dal, crushed fried onions, 1/2-1 cup warm water and salt to taste. Simmer till completely cooked.
  8. Serve hot.
My Tip: You can also add few whole spices to give some extra spiciness to the dish.
