ABOUT Lentil Bread Bun RECIPE

Eggless, Gluten-free, Yeast-free lentil bread bun is here. The recipe uses no raising agents either.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup- urad dal (black gram dehusked)
  2. 1/4 the cup- fox nuts (makhana)
  3. 1 tbsp- flax meal
  4. 3 tbsp- rice powder
  5. 1 tsp- honey/sugar powder
  6. 1/4 tsp- salt
  7. 1 tbsp- oil
  8. curry leaves, cumin seeds, sesame seeds
  9. 3tbsp- water

Instructions

  1. Soak the lentils overnight.
  2. Grind to paste with flax powder, fox nuts, and rice powder. Add 1-2 tbsp water only. Take out a 1/4th cup of the batter for bread bun. You can make urad dal fritters with the remaining batter or even tortillas. I made the same with that.
  3. Add salt, oil, and honey along with all other spices and curry leaves to this 1/4th cup of batter. Whisk everything well.
  4. Let the batter sit on the counter for 7-8 hours.
  5. Preheat oven for 10 mts at 180 degrees.
  6. Grease a baking pan. Add sesame seeds.
  7. Pour the batter and bake for 15-20 mins at 180 degrees. or until the top looks brown.
  8. Enjoy with sauce or chickpea curry.
